On Monday, January 24, 2022, the 12th amendment to the Covid-19 entry regulation will come into force in Austria. The third vaccination means free travel to Austria as of Monday.
With the now 12th amendment of the Covid-19 entry regulation, namely the list of virus variant areas is completely emptied.
Entry to Austria for boostered persons without PCR test
This means that the PCR test requirement will also be waived for boostered persons from 14 omicron pioneer countries, including Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway. Those who are “only” fully immunized will still need a current negative PCR test result.
Relaxation in list of virus variant areas
In addition to the four European countries, South Africa and nine other southern African countries were also on the list of virus variant areas. The reason for the relaxation is that Omikron is now the predominant coronavirus variant in Austria as well.
Entry regulation extended until February 28
The amendment extends the validity of the ordinance by another month – until February 28. Its other provisions remain unchanged. Apart from some exceptions, such as for commuter traffic, Austria will continue to allow only fully vaccinated and recovered persons to enter the country.
